Do you see other people living joyful, purpose filled lives and feel like you have somehow been left behind? Do you silently struggle with self doubt, fear, and feelings of being not enough? Are you using maladaptive coping strategies such as substance use, excessive internet or shopping to avoid feelings of emptiness and boredom? In this modern world it is easy to feel disconnected from ourselves, our purpose, and the rhythm of life. I am here to help you wade through your thoughts, feelings and experiences so that you may find your path back home to your authentic self.
My name is Cathryn Wilson. I am an associate professional counselor, registered dance/movement therapist, certified yoga therapist, and certified pilates instructor. My intention is to help people reconnect with their innate potential utilizing therapy, yoga therapy and counseling techniques and practices. It would be my honor to help illuminate your path as we uncover the next steps in your life journey.
My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a nonjudgemental space, listening to your concerns, and engaging you in thought provoking conversation as well as challenging you to look deeper into the multiple layers of being. I educate on the mind-body connection and help you attune to the felt experience of life and emotion.
Do you find yourself repeating the same arguments and patterns in your relationship? I help individuals to step out of the cycles they have been inhabiting and learn new ways of being. You will learn the power of effective communication skills and to share what your deepest needs in relationship are.
Are you unsure if your alcohol use is becoming unhealthy? Do you feel like you are not in control, or find yourself mindlessly engaging in behaviors such as shopping, scrolling, or eating? I help people to uncover and the root cause behind these behaviors and move towards healing.
Do you struggle with feeling "not enough"? I work with my clients to embody feelings of security, power, and worth. We also work to challenge negative thought patterns and core beliefs that are keeping people from truly recognizing and owning their unique presence in the world.
Do you feel scared or anxious and then worry about those fears? Sometimes it can feel as if we are stuck on a hamster wheel in our minds. I help individuals to stop the spinning and to find a sense of grounding when they feel as if they are being carried away by thoughts. From there we work to challenge maladaptive thinking and to create coping strategies to avoid getting stuck in negative mental circles.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream? Are you disconnected from your creativity? Do you know what your deepest values are? I help clients to tap into their creativity, clarify their desires in life and take steps towards creating a meaningful and rewarding existence.
Life is lived in a moving body. The mind affects the body, and the body affects the mind. We see this when our posture feels heavy when we are depressed or our mind races after too much coffee. Yet often in therapy the focus is solely on the mind. Together we work to rekindle your mind-body connection and look at imbalances at all layers of being.
